Spot turmeric prices gained at Erode markets, while on the futures it decreased. “Traders purchased 70 per cent of the arrived 6,000 bags. The inferior quality turmeric traded lower by ₹50-100 a quintal, while the good quality turmeric increased by ₹100,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. The buyers purchased all the 400 bags of local hybrid variety and also showed interest in buying the root variety. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety was sold at ₹7,422-9,355 a quintal and the root variety at ₹7,199-8,399. Out of 1,858 bags, 1,300 were sold.
