Turmeric futures slide 3.59% on low demand

New Delhi: Turmeric prices were down 3.59 per cent to Rs 10,380 per quintal in thefutures trade today on subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocksposition.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May next year declined by Rs 386, or 3.59 per cent to Rs 10,380 per quintal with an open interest of 2,660 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April 2016 traded lower by Rs 348, or 3.29 per cent to Rs 10,218 per quintal in 23,325 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by low demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on the turmeric prices at the futures trade.
