Red chilli and jeera prices dropped by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today as demand from retailers and stockists eased amid sufficient stocks position.
Besides, higher arrivals from producing areas and weakening trend in futures market put pressure on the select spice prices.
Red chilli prices were down Rs 100 to finish at Rs 9,700-15,200 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 16,000-16,500 and Rs 20,000-20,500 per quintal.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists at higher levels against sufficient stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and jeera prices.

Ajwain (per kg) 150-190, black pepper (per kg) 680-845, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,380-1,430 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,730-1,780.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 770-820, cardamom (colour robin) 750-780, cardamom bold 770-790, cardamom extra (bold) 890-940 and cloves 680-780.
