Black pepper spurts on robust demand

Mumbai, Apr 21 (PTI) Black pepper prices spurted at the spices market here today due to brisk buying from stockists and bulk traders as well as rising export demand.
Black pepper shot up by Rs 2/14 per kilo to Rs 287/317 from Wednesday”s closing level of Rs 285/303.
Meanwhile, rest of the spices closed steady in the absence of worthwhile buying activity.
Following are today”s closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) 287/317 (285/303), ginger bleached (per kg) 170 (170), ginger unbleached (per kg) 200 (200), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,750 (6,750), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,600 (6,600), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,100 (8,100) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,700 (7,700).
